Annual Golf Tournament 2018
While the 2017 Tournament is now history (with a few photos above capturing the essence), planning is underway for the 2018 Tournament.
The South High Foundation is having its 23rd Annual Jim Bloom/Golf Tournament on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Crystal Lake Golf Club in Lakeville, MN.
Our committee is reaching out to graduation classes, local businesses and individuals for golfers, hole sponsorship, volunteers and prize donors who have continued to make the tournament a fundraising success on behalf of the Foundation. To date we have raised over $285,000 on behalf of the Foundation with this annual golf event.
The cost will be $130 per person which includes box lunch (new!), range balls, golf cart, field/team events prizes, a wonderful dinner and many laughs. We also offer dinner only for any non-golfers at a cost of $28 per person. So be sure to bring your spouse (if not already golfing), a friend or alumni who would like to join in the fun and support a great cause.
Golf hole sponsorships are noted at three levels. Platinum $1000 (includes golf for four), Gold $500 (includes golf for two) and Silver $150. All golf hole sponsors receive signage and we will provide recognition of them and prize donors at the dinner that evening as well as publishing their names in the Foundation Newsletter, which is distributed to over 13,000 alumni, staff and friends.
We offer two means to register - by mail and online.
To register just to play, click here to get a registration form.
To register as a hole sponsor, click here for a hole-sponsor form.
In either case, you can print out, complete, and mail in the form with your payment. The instructions on are the form.
Online (available on April 1st):
To register just to play, click here to register.
To register as a hole sponsor, click here to sponsor a hole.
Note that when you register online, you will be taken to a website which is external, but linked, to the Foundation website. There you will be able to select the appropriate options. Soon afterward, you will receive two emails: one confirming your registration and a second confirming your payment.
Please contact Mike Feriancek or anyone on the committee. You can also look for our table at the SHF Pancake Breakfast to resume again in April and at the Spring Alumni Luncheon in May. Please consider starting or ending your class reunion week/weekend by participating in the annual golf tournament.

Here is Chairman Mike Feriencek's 2017 summary:
"Just a note on the results of the golf tournament.
We took in $15,463. Our expenses amounted to $9111. So our proceeds ended up to be $6352.00 from the event. (Later news: We auctioned off (on-line) two late arriving items this past weekend. We raised an additional $350!! And the winning team donated their winnings ($120.00) back to the football team, reducing the expense noted above by that amount.)
So, you might ask - how does that compare with previous year's? Here is what data I have available to me:
- 2013 - 90 golfers - Jim Bloom did the final numbers - so I don't have them
- 2014 - 98 golfers, 31 dinner guests - $8182 proceeds to the Foundation
- 2015 - 84 golfers, 32 dinner guests - $6781 proceeds to the Foundation
- 2016 - 89 golfers, 22 dinner guests - $7061 proceeds to the Foundation
- 2017 - 73 golfers, 14 dinner guests - $6351 proceeds to the Foundation
The feedback from the golfers was overwhelmingly to hold it again at Crystal Lake GC; I will move forward with establishing a date with Crystal Lake GC for next year."
