The Foundation’s Programs
The Foundation’s programs provide support primarily to two groups:
- current students at South High through grants, and
- recent graduates of South High through scholarships.
The grant support has averaged about $120,000 per year for the last several years. For more information on the grants, please view the grants page.
The scholarship support has averaged about $65,000 over that same period. For more information on the scholarships, please view the scholarships page.
As a by-product of raising money for grants and scholarships, the Foundation has accumulated a substantial list of people who are interested in the success of the South High Community. The majority of these people have an affiliation with South – as a former student, a parent, a current or former staff member, or just a community member.
Since many of the people who have registered are former students, the Foundation is able to provide limited support to alumni for reunions. In conjunction with support for reunions, the Foundation does its best to track the death of graduates. For more information on the alumni support, please view the alumni page.
Each year the Foundation may honor one or two people with a plaque on the Wall of Honor in the school Commons, for service to the community which reflects well on South High.
The Mission of the Friends of South High Foundation: provide financial assistance and support for programs at South High School that directly enhance the students’ overall high school experience by enriching their academic, cultural and extracurricular experience; and to support and enhance their ability to further their education.
