Unrestricted Donations

When you make an unrestricted donation, you specify only the amount of your donation. The Foundation, as part of its usual operations, determines how the funds available should be allocated to meet the changing needs of the people it serves.

The availability of unrestricted donations permits the Foundation to continually evaluate it efforts and re-direct support in response to changing priorities and levels of support from other sources.

Note that only you, the donor, can restrict your donation. If you make an unrestricted donation, for instance, the Foundation cannot subsequently impose a restriction of its own. The donation goes into a general fund that the Foundation draws on to fund all of its operations.

For these reasons, the Foundation prefers unrestricted donations. If, however, you feel very strongly that a restriction is appropriate and better represents your wishes, the Foundation will gladly accept the donation and honor your direction on how it ought to be allocated.
