Support South Students
In partnership with our alumni and community, South High Foundation makes grants and scholarships that enrich the educational experience while at South, and ensure graduates can pursue their dreams.
We support programs that keep students in school, inspire them to work hard, and expand their worldviews. Since 1983, we have helped fund impactful initiatives, including enriching trips for music students, travel to debate team competitions, and athletics.
However you give, every dollar stays at South.
Give where it's needed most
By making an unrestricted gift to the Foundation, you can support our grants, scholarships, and general operations. These funds are spent at the discretion of the Board, and enable us to effectively and efficiently meet changing needs and priorities of the South High community.

Powered by Community, For South Students
The Foundation was founded in 1983 by a group of educators and alumni with a single goal: to provide students at Minneapolis' South High School with opportunities and experiences that educate, enrich, and prepare them for successful futures.
Thanks to the generosity of South alumni, parents, community members, and other supporters, our endowed assets have continued to grow, allowing us to fulfill our mission through our grant and scholarship programs.
Our work depends on people like you. Whether you're an alum, a parent, or community member who believes in what South High students can do, we invite you to join us — donate, volunteer, or simply spread the word. We invite you to leave your print to support South students.
An Independent Steward
The South High Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, separate from South High School and Minneapolis Public Schools. Founded in 1983, SHF is one of the first foundations in the country created to benefit a single public high school. That independence matters to donors: gifts to the foundation never flow into school or district budgets. Every donation stays under the foundation's stewardship and is spent the way its donor intended — on grants and scholarships for South High students.
Friends of South High Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code; your gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please speak with your tax advisor about maximum benefits and giving options.
