Supporting South Families- January 2026
South parents have started a GoFundMe campaign to support South High families struggling with costs of living amid challenging times, when many fear leaving their homes. If you are interested in learning more or donating, click here. Though the Foundation is not affiliated with this campaign, it has been vetted by South's social worker. The campaign has provided assistance to over 300 families so far, thanks to the strength and generosity of our community.
The South High Foundation is also working closely with the Social workers at South to help fill any needs. Funds may also be sent directly to the Foundation (please identify if your donation is for families disrupted by ICE activities) and we will direct your donation to support these students and their families.
Remembering 1924 Paris Olympian, Karl Anderson (1918)
The family is shown with a framed photo of Karl as a hurdler, but he was much more, and left a legacy of perseverance for all to remember. He was honored posthumously at the 2015 Spring All Alumni Luncheon as a Wall of Honor recipient. Anderson was recently highlighted by WCCO’s Mike Max
in his televised story, “The first Minnesotan to head to the Olympics left behind an important message.” Max focused on Anderson’s run at the olympics, overcoming obstacles and set backs and running the race. His family recalled the lessons learned from him and the example he set throughout his life. The WCCO story can be viewed on here.
